
Patrick F. Ortman, CFP®
Patrick founded Ortman Financial Planning in 2016, a financial planning and investment management firm located in Bethesda, MD. He holds the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) designation and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance at the Catholic University of America.
Patrick has a strong focus on his clients’ overall financial wellbeing and recognizes that money is only a tool to help achieve the vision each person has for their life. He focuses on providing a very deep level of service balanced with simplicity to provide each client with greater peace of mind around their finances.
Patrick and his wife, Kate, have four boys in elementary through high school. He is an avid runner, coaches various youth sports teams, and is an active volunteer at his children’s schools.
Patrick is active in the financial planning community and is a member of XY Planning Network, and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA).

Amanda Spencer
Client Service Associate
Amanda has an extensive background in financial planning operations. She’s our expert in coordinating requirements for investment companies, resolving challenges to make everyone’s life easier, and generally keeping things on track.
Amanda loves to travel, cook for her family, and enjoys a good book. She has been an active supporter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities for nearly 15 years, volunteering with her family several times a year.

Valeria Suaza
Associate Financial Advisor
Valeria recently joined the team after earning her Bachelor’s degree in Finance with a concentration in Financial Planning from Messiah University in May 2025. As an Associate Financial Advisor, she supports the financial planning process by handling much of the behind-the-scenes work involved in plan creation, assisting with client meetings, coordinating service tasks across the team, conducting research on various planning topics, and contributing to the firm’s day-to-day operations.
Valeria is a CFP® candidate and successfully passed the CFP® exam in November 2025. She loves helping clients feel confident and informed about their finances and approaches her work with care and attention to detail.
Outside of the office, Valeria enjoys traveling to new destinations, playing pickleball with friends, and spending her free time reading books or working on a puzzle.
